& GUIDELINES

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR GRADUATION AND WELCOME TO TRINITY'S HOME FOR SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION.

We have several scholarships available to apply for listed below.  The application link will be live on February 1, 2021.  Deadline is midnight  Friday, March 19, 2021. 

Scholarship Criteria

All applications forms will be posted on TUMC website in February of 2021.  
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA for Scholarships (Note that some scholarships require additional information over the list below.  Pay close attention to the scholarship requirements you are applying for.)  

In order to be eligible and asked to attend Scholarship interviews submit all forms, transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc. online on our Website by selecting the link below.  

These documents must be submitted on our Website by Friday, 12 midnight on March 19, 2021.  All forms must be in by this deadline or earlier.  This is a secure site.  


Once you start filling out the application below, you must have all of your documents ready to submit at that time.  This is not a working form that you can save data in for later.   All data will be lost if you do not submit the application.


SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA (For all Scholarships)

1.  Scholarship Application for the scholarship you are applying.  One require an additional form to be eligible—UMW see to the right)

2.  A recent high school, college or graduate student transcript.  (no report cards accepted)

3.  Two letters of recommendation (one educator, one non-family member)

4.  Submitting all forms must be in by the deadline in order to be considered eligible.
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA United Methodist Women (#2)

1.  Scholarship Application

2.  Letter of Recommendation from an educator (teacher, principal, etc.)

3.  Letter of Recommendation from someone affiliated with TUMC

4.  Recent Transcript. (no report cards accepted)

5.  A personal Letter of Introduction  

Scholarships for United Methodist Men and United Methodist Women are not based on gender.  Young men and women can apply for either or both scholarships.

 United Methodist Men’s Scholarship   

Scholarship recipients shall be chosen by the United Methodist Men on the basis of:  
Christian commitment which shall include membership in Trinity UM Church, Jacksonville, NC for a period of at least one-year, Financial need, Scholastic achievement, Extracurricular activities.

Priority will be given to students pursuing full-time Christian service, which for the purpose of this scholarship endowment is defined as Pastoral ministry, Christian education director or Director of music ministry.  

Scholarships can be made to persons who are entering or who are presently enrolled in colleges, universities or technical schools that are accredited by the state. The Scholarship Committee supports the Representative of UMM on how he would like to award the scholarship.  This scholarship is set up in an endowment.

            AWARD $ 1500.00 


 United Methodist Women’s Scholarship  

Trinity United Methodist Women offer a yearly scholarship to applicants who are affiliated with Trinity United Methodist Church, Jacksonville, NC.
Applicants must be active in public service and volunteer work but do not have to demonstrate financial need.

Academic achievement and the applicant’s educational and career goals are considered. The scholarship amount varies each year as funds are available.  
Scholarships are available to applicants who are affiliated and show active participation in Trinity United Methodist Church.  

Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA in high school or college.  In addition to transcripts, a personal letter of introduction and references are required with application.  

This scholarship may be awarded to graduating high school, undergraduate and graduate students and shall be given annually based on fund availability.  
The scholarship is granted for one year with the privilege of reapplying for additional years.
         
The Scholarship Committee supports the Representative of UMW on how she
          would like to award the scholarship.

This scholarship is set up in an endowment.
                     
AWARD $ 1000.00 


 Joe and Ellie Bynum Scholarship  

 Scholarship recipients shall be chosen by the Scholarship Committee.
The Bynum Scholarship shall be granted to a United Methodist preparing for full-time Church vocation.  This includes graduating seniors and older as called by God to enter into the ministry.  

This scholarship was set up by the Bynum’s after their passing to heaven. It is their desire to share the Gospel by giving this scholarship to help someone called by God.  Recipients may reapply.  This scholarship is set up in an endowment.                          

AWARD $1083.00    


 Morris E. (Mike) Ransom Scholarship 

Scholarship recipients shall be chosen by the Scholarship Committee. This scholarship may be awarded to any high school senior who is an active* member of Trinity UMC in Jacksonville, NC, planning to attend a post-secondary institution (vocational or academic) full time.

*Active member is defined as “one who attends or assists in teaching Sunday School on a regular basis, regularly worships at Trinity United Methodist Church participates in the life of the church community through service in worship (usher, greeter, reader, choir), through the church youth organization and supports the church with his/her time, talents and treasure.
This is not an academic or need based scholarship, this is a faith based scholarship.
The scholarship will be awarded to one student per year for the Fall semester.

AWARD $1000.00      


 Richard Ray Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Debbi Ray Rouse in memory of her husband, Richard Ray, to benefit high school seniors of Trinity United Methodist Church to pursue their post high school education.  

All applicants must be members of Trinity UM Church.  Each applicant must have firm intentions of attending a two- or four-year institution including a community college.  
Nominees will be chosen without regard to sex or race.  
The financial condition of the applicant will be considered but will not be the determining factor in the final selection. The scholarship is for one graduating senior per year.
                                                       
AWARD $1000.00


Johnathan Fulcher Memorial Scholarship (Lids4Kids)

This scholarship was established by Madeline Fulcher in memory of her son, Johnathan.  This Scholarship is to benefit high school seniors of Trinity United Methodist Church to pursue their post high school education.  
Recipients shall be chosen by the Scholarship Committee.

This scholarship may be awarded to any high school senior who is an active* member of Trinity UMC in Jacksonville, NC, planning to attend a post-secondary institution (vocational or academic) full time.

The Henderson Scholarship 

The Henderson Scholarship is for those who are accepted and attend Coastal Community College.  
Scholarship recipients shall be chosen by the Scholarship Committee.  

The Criteria includes:  Christian commitment (which shall include membership in Trinity UM Church, Jacksonville, NC for a period of at least one-year, Financial need, Scholastic achievement, and Extracurricular activities.  
This Scholarship is not set up in an endowment.
