Prayer Shawl Ministry

We are currently in need of infant-sized blankets!!!

We provide graduating seniors with prayer shawls (in their chosen college colors!) and keep a stock on hand for those that desire to give a shawl.

Shawls are made by the women of the church either by knitting or crocheting.  As the shawl is crafted, a silent prayer is offered for someone in special need.  What makes each shawl special is not the pattern, color, or workmanship, but the fact that prayer is symbolically tied into each one.

These comforters are a statement of faith, and a testimony to our belief in God and in the power of prayer.  They are further blessed by the congregation as a part of the Communion ritual at Sunday worship.

Many shawls have been distributed, each a special gift of love. They have been given to sick babies, to cancer patients, to adults and children facing surgery,  loss of a loved one or some other difficult family situation — for many reasons, but each for someone in special need of prayer. If you know of a need or want more information call the coordinator, Karin Jones at 910-353-7474.
